Get to know us betterSherwin Mah was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and LL.B degrees at the University of British Columbia, and was called to the Bar in 1994. He has practiced in the area of Family Law throughout his career, and exclusively since 1999, having previously practiced criminal and personal injury law. In his practice, Sherwin deals with all Family Law issues, including all child custody and parenting issues, child and spousal support, and division of property. He conducts matters at the Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal levels. Although experienced and skilled in court, Sherwin believes that trial should be the last resort in all family law matters. Reaching favourable resolution without going to court is always a priority. Sherwin is trained and experienced in Collaborative Divorce and is also a Certified Family Law Mediator.
Sherwin’s clients benefit from his knowledge, experience and expertise, but also his compassion and understanding of the emotional upheaval that often accompanies family law issues.
A Bit About Me
Sherwin is also active in the community, having been a member of the Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club since 1999, and being on the Board of Directors for much of that time. Through the Lions, Mr. Mah has worked to raise funds for various local charities, including the BC Cancer Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital, C.H.I.L.D. Foundation, Chinese Cultural Centre, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., and numerous others. He is also chairman of his club’s Christmas Hamper project, which provides needy families with warm blankets, clothing and food during the holiday season.
In his spare time, Mr. Mah is most often found on his bicycle. He also enjoys tennis, golf, guitar, photography and travel.
Sherwin has made numerous presentations for the Canadian Bar Association and the Public Legal Education Society of British Columbia. He has also taught legal courses at Vancouver Community College.
Catherine M. Collver, Associate
Catherine Collver received her law degree from the University of Alberta in 2015 and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2016. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in English literature from the University of British Columbia. Catherine worked for many years as a not-for-profit fundraiser before entering law school; her most recent position was with the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. Although her articles were evenly divided between three respected Vancouver law firms, exposing her to numerous areas of civil and criminal law, she ultimately decided that family law affords her the best opportunity to help others resolve their difficult life problems.

Sindy Lam, Legal Secretary
Sindy Lam has been with Sherwin Mah as a legal secretary since 2005 and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Conscientious and diligent, Sindy is extremely good at making all clients feel valued and important. Her interests are tennis, tennis and tennis, and travel.
She is married and has a son. Her background is in property management.
